Newsletters Are Back Baby
It’s occurred to me this year that for the first time in ages, newsletters are back in vogue. Maybe it’s because, well, they work?
I’ve been writing my newsletter on Mailchimp for as long as I can remember. Partly because I’m too lazy to switch, party cause I like it, but also party due to the fact that Mailchimp was the ONLY newsletter service for a long long time.
Now, we have many. Ghost, Medium, Wordpress, Substack and Beehiiv are all vying for our newsletters. Having tried Substack and Beehiiv, I must admit, I am leaning towards the latter. Anyway, I think it’s important to own your content and I do like the fact that all of the above allow you to freely export your content. You can’t say the same for most of the proprietary social networks. And I think that’s the point. A newsletter (or website) is practically the only platform left where you can freely control the content both in terms of ownership, but as well as the type eg. text, image, video etc and how little or much you post. Here’s to the newsletter then. Some of the ones I regularly read:

AI’s Impact on Work
Since we’re on the topic of newsletters, my favorite post this month is from the aforementioned Ben Evans. Titled ‘AI and the automation of work’, he gives a really good account of the past and future trends with respect to technological shifts and argues that AI is no different with other shifts. With caveats. Read the newsletter!
Let me know what topics to cover! Drop me a note
I’d love it if you can share my email newsletter with friends. Share Email Sign-up!
