Move Over Crypto, Enter ChatGPT and AI
OpenAI’s ChatGPT is the new hot thing. Microsoft has invested $10 billion into OpenAI (that’s on top of the $3 billion Microsoft has given OpenAI since 2019), and Microsoft is rumored to be adding ChatGPT to its Bing search engine. People are for the first time suggesting Google is in trouble. Another false dawn for AI or is this the real thing?
ChatGPT is a fascinating product as in, it’s actually useful for a lot of tasks from copywriting to homework. What’s going to be interesting is to track how much the service improves over time, especially the much touted GPT 4.
What’s your take? Will OpenAI dethrone Google and usher in the next era of computing?

Tesla = Complex Co-ordination
Elon Musk this week unveiled plans to expand Tesla’s Gigafactory’ in Nevada. He credited them for the milestones that the facility has achieved to date, and he also rallied the troops by highlighting the fact that much more growth is coming in the future. As Musk noted, the recently announced expansion to Giga Nevada is simply “Phase 2.”
What Tesla is doing is something that very few companies on earth are doing today at this scale, aside from maybe Apple and that is, ‘complex co-ordination’. Think about everything Tesla are doing from a hardware perspective but also combine that with their huge software efforts in self driving and UI. Usually, a company can either do hardware or software, but rarely both.
Will Tesla become the world’s most valuable, or putting it another way, most important company?
